Mini-Kreuzfahrt zu den Äolischen Inseln: Lipari und Vulcano ab Taormina

Really good trip. the guide, Alexandra, was great. Really good at keeping you up to date and making timings really clear. From how long the transportation would take to how much free time, everything was explained perfectly. Alexandra also has great knowledge of the islands and was really engaging. It was the perfect balance between information and quiet to look out at the scenery. Lipari is very pretty. Great for a bite to eat and souvenirs. Vulcano was amazing for a dip to cool off. Two lovely beaches. One black, volcanic sand at the top of the hill. Another at the bottom of the hill. You can pay €1 to have a shower at the bottom beach to refresh and change before boarding the boat for the trip back. Tips: Make sure you take change to pay for showers at the beach and water. shoes for the shingle beaches. Excellent trip, highly recommended.

The trip was lovely but something to note: we couldn't get the smell from sulphur mud bath on Vulcano out of clothes or bags for weeks. We washed everything when we got back to the apartment but the smell remained as it did on us despite lengthy showers. The smell was so bad it woke both of us during the night. Clothes had to be washed and soaked in bicarbonate of soda multiple times when we got home and still couldn't get rid of the smell. We wish we had known this before going into it. Perhaps the guides could let people know this in advance so people can make an informed decision whether or not they want to do it.

The island of Lipari was beautiful but the ferry transport was a disaster. There were not enough seats on the ferry for everyone and because it was so so rough ( it should have been cancelled) people were falling to the ground, others were vomitting. It was a very dangerous trip!! I would never do it again nor would lots of other people. I am in my 59’s and I had to assist older people walk to try and fit down sary. It should NE ER have gone ahead!!
