Von Neapel: Tour nach Sorrent & Pompeji mit Limoncello-Verkostung

This is really just transportation, not a guided tour. We really would have liked less time in Sorrento and more in Pompeiii, but one guy wanted 2 hours in Sorrento so we all had to do that. They take you to a lovely lemoncello factory (try the vinegars!) with lots of samples. Sorrento is good shopping and pretty. At Pompei if you buy an audio guide it is out loud, not a speaker, so you don't need one foe every person. We hardly used it. Pompei is huge but we hit highlights.

The trip was very well organised. A reminder message was sent to me from the tour company the day before. It was very busy at the port and we had difficulty at first finding the meeting point, however our tour guide rang me and sent a photo of the meeting point which really helped us. Everything ran on time and instructions given throughout the tour were very clear.

Our tour was supposed to start at 8:15. I got a frantic call at 8am asking where is was, which caused us to have to rush to the meeting spot, which we got to before 8:15. After that, our drive was in a small bus that didn’t get very cool. We got stuck in some traffic (not the tours fault), but it was a hot day (mid 90’s F) and poor air conditioning caused a lot of discomfort on the bus. Sorrento was beautiful and Pompéi was truly awesome, but the tour guide didn’t provide that much information on our trip about the areas. If I were to make this stop again, I would get a guided tour of Pompéi only and skip Sorrento.

Our guide and driver were both amazing! I do wish we were able to see a bit more of Sorrento or have been told a few other places to go and see while we were on our own. Also Pompeii was amazing to see but having a guide would have been better make sure you read the entire descriptions This was also a very short port for us we did not have a ton of time . What we saw was beautiful and just means we have to come back to see more . Be aware that the time listed includes travel time too so depending on where you are coming from it will make a difference as to how much time you can spend etc .

Directions on where to meet were unclear. The road to Sorrento is narrow and winding so traffic comes to a stop because the bus can't fit. We sat in a tunnel for almost an hour and they said it was typical. Where you're dropped is not a great location. The bus was then stuck in the bus parking lot because other buses were in the way. By the time you get to Pompeii there's little time left. Our guide put us in the line then the 2nd line is go thru the gate and left us but when we got to the turnstile, they wanted tickets. She was gone. We all didn't know what to do. Finally I ran to find her and by the time she came back and showed them tickets on her phone, we had less than an hour to see the whole place. It was ridiculous. We felt cheated out of experiencing the whole site. The bus was nice though.

First of all with traffic is horrible as it was to get to Sorrento (sat on the bus for 2 hours) we only had 1 hour in Sorrento (not enough), then when we got to Pompeii we did not have enough time to explore (1 hour). To top it off, our guide led us to the gate then left while 50 people tried to enter with no tickets. Someone in our group ran around to find her, then she had to scan ever person from her phone, leaving us with only 1 hour to wander around. She gave us no map, or how to get a guide, which we wouldn't have had time anyway for a guide. The tour should only be Pompeii and maybe Herculean. The Sorrento trip should be separate, and maybe include Positano or ferry to Capri.

Our guide Carolina was the sweetest! There was some confusion with finding the group at meeting point in the morning. I recommend arriving 30 minutes before and look all around Napoli port just to make sure. She waited for us but I think we were just lucky ‍ We didn’t get much time to see everything so it’s a fun tour to do when you have had enough of the city’s chaos.
