Catania: Pasta- & Tiramisu-Kurs im Haus eines Einheimischen mit Wein

We took this cooking class this past August as a family — two parents and three teenagers. It was fantastic from start to finish. Our host Maurizio was incredibly warm and welcoming, and made everyone feel comfortable right away. He was so flexible with our teens' needs and preferences, which we really appreciated. As a lovely bonus, he shared some great stories about music along the way. The whole experience was so pleasant, and of course, absolutely delicious! We can't recommend this class enough!

I had a fantastic cooking class with Maurizio! We prepared two different types of pasta and tiramisu, and everything was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was warm, fun and very welcoming, while Maurizio was also extremely professional and patient. I especially appreciated his approach to communication — even if you don’t speak English very well, he knows how to explain everything clearly and make you feel comfortable. This made it easy to fully enjoy the experience. I took the class on my own, but I think it would also be a great experience to share with friends or family. I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Sicily!

Wir waren bei Graziella. Wir haben das Erlebnis gebucht, da in der Beschreibung stand man würde Pasta selber machen und den kompletten Vorgang erlernen. Das war hier leider nicht der Fall. Wir wurden bei Graziella zwar herzlich empfangen, aber wurden beinah direkt aus der Küche hinaus geführt und haben uns die ganze Zeit mit ihrem Ehemann auf der Terrasse unterhalten. Wir hatten auch das Gefühl, dass die Gastgeberin selbst kaum englisch sprechen konnte. Wir haben weder Pasta selber gemacht, noch die Sauce selber gemacht. Es wurden fertige Spaghetti aus der Tüte verwendet, die die Gastgeberin zubereitet hat, während wir auf der Terrasse mit ihrem Ehemann saßen, der uns unterhalten hat. So haben wir für drei Leute 237 € für ein einfaches Pastagericht in den Sand gesetzt, dass wir in jedem anderen Restaurant der Stadt hätten für 60 €bekommen. Es ist überhaupt nicht empfehlenswert und wir waren sehr traurig.

100/10 ✨️ A truly unbelievable, unique, fun experience! I was 25 minutes late because I got lost but Maurizio kindly waited for me. And when I arrived, everything was exceptional! We had two types of cheese, bread, two types of spicy spread, olive spread and pork to start with. What followed was a dream. The pasta & tiramisu was so fun to make! And the flavours that came from simple ingredients blew my mind! Less is definitely more here and there is beauty in the simple things. I had no idea tiramisu was so easy to make! Maurizio treated us to plenty of delicious wine. He joked, laughed and told us about his life and his love of music. What made the day really special is he crafted a song for me on his piano! I'll never forget that. What started off with me being late ended 5 hours later with a full belly and heart full of memories. Don't make plans after the class, it will definitely run over but you won't want it to end! Thank you for sharing your joy, passion & home with us 🤍

Chef Maurizio is phenomenal! He welcomed us into his home and opened up his heart to us. He was very knowledgeable and kind in teaching us techiques of pasta and tiramisu making. We were not rushed in anything that we experienced, and the results of his craft were absolutely delicious!! He has a wonderful sense of humour and is very engaging. This opportunity will be remembered for many years to come!

Maurizio was a wonderful and knowledgeable host! We had drinks and snacks while he prepared the kitchen. We are a family of four with two 12 year olds, he was very attentive to the kids. Offering cold drinks and making sure they had lots of hands on experiences. The experience was well thought out with everyone involved. We did the 2 hour express, which was pleasantly a bit longer than expected. We made 1 type of pasta, cavatelli, pasta alla Norma and tiramisu. We had delicious local wine with lunch. It was such a fun learning experience. Maurizio is multi talented. If you’re lucky you might get your own song!

We had an amazing time in Maurizio’s home! He welcomed us in as though we were already friends. He was a great teacher and made the experience so fun and informative! We were greeted with light snacks and sauces. The pasta and tiramisu were delicious. The wine for each course was delicious as well. I can’t say enough. I have traveled all over the world and this is one of my most memorable experiences to date! I won’t forget my day in Catania! Great experience and definitely recommend to all!
