Ab Neapel: Tagesausflug zum Vesuv und nach Herculaneum mit Tickets

Really easy way to get from Naples to Vesuvius in particular. Well organised and easily enough time at the summit - which was breathtaking. The audio guide for Herculaneum with this package didn't follow the numbers on the buildings, and with no map it was very hard to know what you're looking at. Worth considering taking the attraction's audio guide or at least getting a map.

Es schien zunächst verwirrend, an den Treffpunkten den richtigen Bus zu finden, aber Dank Schildern und Aufklebern war es dann doch gut machbar. Auf der Rücktour von Herkulaneum nach Neapel wurde ein Zwischenstopp in Pompeji eingelegt, wo wir auch den Bus wechseln mussten und auf den Anschlussbus warten mussten. Dies wussten wir aus älteren Rezensionen, wurden aber nicht vom Anbieter vorab explizit darüber informiert. Vor Ort war die Kommunikation aber klar und freundlich. Die Wartezeit war nicht lange, trotzdem gab es für andere Mitreisende Probleme mit Anschlussverbindungen. (Wir kamen ca. 30 Minuten später an). Die freie Zeit auf dem Vesuv und in Herkulaneum war für uns passend. (Wobei ich nicht ausschließen möchte, dass man an heißeren Tagen vielleicht mehr Zeit benötigt, besonders beim ca 1km langen Marsch auf den Vulkan) Gut gefallen hat uns dss Konzept, hier den Transport und den Eintritt aus einer Hand organisiert zu bekommen.

The good bits: Both Vesuvius and Herculaneum are amazing places to visit and having the tickets and transport arranged for you is very convenient. The trip operators are clearly very experienced and well organised (from their perspective). The less good bits: There is only just enough time to walk to the crater, take a few photos and walk back down. Don't expect to take advantage of the free expert guides available. The 'audioguide' provided for Herculaneum is garbage and clearly out of date. You need a smartphone with plenty of data and your own earphones. The computer-generated voiceover is terrible. The locations in the App don't match with the signage on site and the App needs constant re-booting. No paper map is available. It isn't a 6 hour experience. At Herculaneum we were being hassled to get back on the minibus after less than 5 hours and then got driven to Pompei to wait by the side of the road for half an hour before getting on a different bus to travel back to Naples.

Trip was transportation and tickets to Vesuvius and Herculaneum. Both of which were worth a visit. We were on a cruise and decided to use GYG (around Vesuvio). Please be aware when booking you may be on a mixed tour. We were with a group that also included Pompeii, after visiting Vesuvius and Herculaneum, we just wanted to get back to the ship. The pick up point is almost 2 miles from the cruise terminal, we walked there but wished we hadn’t as it’s not the nicest/safest area to walk. The buses used have seen better days, the driver could not speak any English and there was no guide with us. The audio guide they provided for Herculaneum did not match the numbered exhibits. I don’t doubt the tour company would have got us back to the pick up point, but we would have had to travel to Pompeii first (25 mins away from where we wanted to be) and then wait for transport back to Naples, no one could tell us how long that would be, so we cut our losses and got a taxi straight back to the ship.

Der Treffpunkt war schon nicht am richtigen Ort, sondern etwas weiter. Die Zeit am Vesuv war zu kurz, man musste rauf hetzen. Man konnte nicht mal dran denken, ein Stück vom Kraterweg zu gehen. In Herculaneum wurde man vor den Toren abgesetzt, ohne irgendwelche Erklärungen. Dann folgre eine Fahrt nach Pompeji, kein Wort der Erklärungen. Der Bus ist hier zu Ende. Nach rumfragen, kam man zu einem Büro , dort wurde erklärt, der Bus nach Neapel fährt da vorne in 15 Minuten. Kein nettes Wort. Wenn man dann noch die Eintrittspreise zusammen rechnet, kostet die Busfahrt, mit nicht mehr als 20 Worten Erklärung 70€. Das erste schlecht Erlebnis, im vielen Jahren Get you Guide. Definitiv nicht zu Empfehlen. Sorry!

Very well organised and were very on top of who was going on which trip as they run a few simultaneously. Vesuvius was brilliant being dropped at the gate for the short hike. Did however feel like a rush to get back to the bottom after stopping to browse the souvenirs and see the crater, so another 10-15 mins would have helped massively. Herculaneum was brilliant, although the audioguide didn’t seem to make much sense at all as to when to use it, so we instead bought and downloaded one off VoiceMap which was brilliant - just ensure to start it before entering the complex. Again, ran out of time to finish our tour and didn’t get to see the Antiquarium so a little bit longer would be appreciated. Got dropped off at Pompeii on the way back to Naples to wait for a connecting minibus and had time for a cold drink which was welcomed. Would recommend this tour as we had a great time but bear in mind that the time allotted may seem just too short.

merveilleux moment passé! le Vésuve était bien dégagé et l'ascension facile. en revanche, gros bémol sur le temps laissé à Herculanum. Beaucoup trop court pour profiter de l'intégralité et de la beauté du site. On vous demande de revenir à 14h20 soit 2h pour manger et aussi visiter! 1 heure de plus à Herculanum et l'équilibre serait parfait.

as expected this was just transport. and this is what was wrong. a very unpleasant driving that was too aggressive in his driving and relations with customers. dirty windows. confused transfer, although the couple handled by a support person were smooth. the included audio guide at Herculaneum was worthless since it did not match the signs on structures.

Obviously the volcano, hike, views, and natural environment did not disappoint! However, it was chaotic, barely held together by a single organizer who spoke English which was the selected language for this tour. Absolutely no ‘guide’ (read driver) provided any cultural, historical, or local information. Just get off, get on times. Yes, it is a drive that requires some skill, but the price per person was not worth being hearded like cats and constantly hearing agitated Italian yelly talking about tourists. And this was late October, so it must be worse in the busiest months. I had enough and decided to stay in Ercolano instead of getting back on the bus to Naples. PS. It’s a difficult 30 degree incline on loose gravel and sandy pumice for approximately 1km even though you are dropped off at the highest point a vehicle can go. Be aware of your abilities, the weather, and the short time tours like this allow you to get to a place you can view the caldera and further to the trail end.
