Tour dell'Etna e Gole dell'Alcantara da Taormina: Pranzo Siciliano e Cratere

An unforgettable experience due to the Etna eruption! We were so lucky to see Etna erupt, from the moment we were picked up in the morning by our exceptional guide, Roberto, who was always enthusiastic and informative, until the big bang happened whilst we were actually ascending the mountain above 8,000 feet in the robust truck. At that point, the driver immediately reversed to the nearest turning area and then drove us back down to a safe spot to observe the continuing eruption. We realised we had been in the sensible and safe hands of our guide, driver and vulcanologist. We then drove to the Etna winery for lunch where we could admire the now much quieter Mamma Etna from a safe distance. Our last treat was to cool off in the spectacular and popular Alcantara river gorge. What a day!

Wir hatten einen perfekten Tag, unvergesslich, von Anfang bist Ende. Organisation und Abstimmung im Vorfeld top! Roberto S. war unser Guide, er ist sehr freundlich, weiß unglaublich viel über den Ätna & die Natur zu erzählen & hat uns perfekt auf den Tag vorbereitet. Er ist ein sehr guter und sicherer Fahrer. Zuerst waren wir in einer Lava-Höhle. Roberto hatte alles an Equipment dabei, Schuhe, Helme, Jacken. Auch hier konnte er uns viel Interessantes erzählen. Dann ging es hoch zum Ätna. Wir waren am Tag des Ausbruchs dabei & hatten spektakuläre Eindrücke. Als es kurz brenzlig wurde, war Roberto ruhig & hat auf uns aufgepasst. Wir haben uns zu jeder Zeit sicher gefühlt, zumal wir auch noch einen Geologen an der Seite hatten. Leider musste aufgrund der Situation das Trekking abgebrochen werden, aber das war auch besser so. Mittag war ok, letzter Stopp die Alcantara-Schlucht, war einmalig schön und erfrischend. Auch die Gruppe war sehr homogen und freundlich!

This was a fantastic experience - it really was 3 experience in one: the lava cave, Mt. Etna, and then Alcantara Gorge! My favorite part was Mt. Etna - it was like walking on a black moon - so vast and empty! Our guides were great - full of information and hilarious - the main driver really made the tour enjoyable! The tour lasted 10 hours from pickup to drop-off, so we definitely got our money's worth! My only disappointment was the winery where we had lunch. The food was okay and the wine was not good, IMO. But that was just a small part of our wonderful day.

We really enjoyed our daytrip. Our guides were very nice, especially with the kids that were a bit car sick and paid a lot of attention to our needs. They also provided a lot of information and answered all our questions. The experience on Etna was amazing. The food was delicious. The dip in the Alcantara river was refreshing and the landscapes gorgeous. All in all we were very happy with our experience and warmly recommend it.

The guide was nice, but felt rushed. We started late. The morning, which included Etna, felt rushed. After Etna it was a long way to lunch, which was possibly worse due to starting tour late. Lunch was very nice, at a winery, but I hadn’t realised this and we had been on a wine tour the day before! Lava cave was good, but thought we would go further, perhaps this was my expectation rather than what had been promised. Overall a nice tour, but felt it was pricey considering. We started late and returned to pick up point before published finish time.

Une activité très complète. Nous avons été accompagnés par Toni, un guide très gentil, passionné par son métier. Ses explications sont très à porté de main mais aussi très détaillées. Malgré le fait que nous n’avons pas pu faire l’activité en Français mais en Anglais les explications étaient très compréhensibles et Toni répondait à toutes nos questions avec énorme plaisir. À savoir que les conditionnes climatologiques et/ou du volcan peuvent modifier un peu le parcours de la visite.
