We spent a lot of the time outside in the courtyard of the museums, and not actually inside. Once we were inside, there were so many people, that you just got carried by the crowd and had no time to look at anything. The guide was saying things about objects in her sight, but since we were spread out in the flow of people, we had no idea what she was looking at or pointing to. We got this guided tour because the standard entrance tickets were sold out, so it was our only way in. But honestly, it wasn't worth it. Either go in a less busy season (we went in may), or don't bother. We went to San Pietro afterwards, but despite having to queue for an hour, once you were inside you had all the time in the world to explore it and appreciate its beauty, which was a much less stressful and a more enjoyable experience.
