Tour Guidato di Pompei da Napoli o Sorrento: Mezza Giornata tra Storia e Archeologia

Pay attention to what you pay: the activity title said it was with a guide & "with live guide" & "guided tour through pompei" & the description explained how the guide would walk us through & all the reviews were about how good the guides were, with their names. They then didn't didn't provide the option to book that guide, ONLY an audio guide tour. we booked that and didn't get what we wanted. GYG refused to give us a refund. IMO that was plain false advertising & very close to a scam

It was a very informative guided tour. our guide presented it with enthusiasm and perfect English. we had a slight issue with the pick up that made is late by the scheduling of the organizers. the one drawback is that we had no leisure time to explore on our own. Once the tour was done we got on our transports and were returned to the pick up location.

We paid an extra rate to be collected at our hotel, however the night before we were instructed to walk 0.6 of a mile down fairly narrow roads without footpaths. Being mid sixties it was challenging and I unfortunately fell over due to the uneven paving and injured my left hand and knee. It wasn’t made clear that we would not be collected from the hotel. The trip itself at Pompeii was good and interesting despite my discomfort. I did spend a lot of time finding a company that offered hotel pick ups, so it was disappointing.

Our guide, Elisa was excellent, very knowledgeable and spoke very good English. She instructed us to use the toilets before we started and to make sure we had water with us as it was a hot day. It was a challenge for us walking around with little shade for 2 hours but we managed. A half day was enough for us (OAPs). Pick up from our hotel was great and the minibus had Aircon but it was a little cramped for us tall people. Overall a good trip which was our main reason for coming to Sorrento

We lucked out. Excellent guide (Fabio) incredibly knowledgeable and informative. Great patience and easy to understand. Total trip at Pompeii is two hours and the transport from our hotel was straightforward. Would bring an umbrella and water as there is very little shade. And once on the tour you cannot buy anything while inside Pompeii. No toilets either
