Livorno: Biglietto Hop-on Hop-off per 1 Giorno - Esplora la Città al Tuo Ritmo

I wouldn’t tend to leave a negative comment but feel compelled too on this occasion. Travelling with my wife from a cruise, we wanted to see the Port City of Livorno rather than head to Florence/Pisa. We are experienced travellers and would often use the Hop On Hop Off buses as a means of initially sightseeing before determining where we would like to visit. Tickets cost €38.00 and the whole route took 1 hour, not that I am complaining about that. Our issues are that there was only one bus in use and the audio system was broken. One of the Information Office Team was trying to provide live audio reading from a script but unfortunately he was well out of sync and even at one point gave up trying. He was doing his best after being put in a position not familiar with. For Management you seriously need to raise your game. Only a single bus which was dilapidated at best.

The bus stops are poorly marked. We tried to get the bus at the Gates of Dawn, we arrived a few minutes early and never saw the bus. We then tried at the Cathedral Square. Again poorly marked, no parking available (all taken). Some buses look like the hop on and hop off, even have it written on the bus, but you cannot pick it up at a stop. We ended up not being able to take the tour so it was a complete waste of money. I would not recommend buying tickets ahead unless you have sorted out exactly where and when the bus comes. Total disappointment

We went on a day of flash flooding which was no fault of the tour company. We stayed on the bus for the whole tour round twice one after the other The driver was very good and coped with the flooded roads without panicking. he reversed the bus when the road was flooded to get through with ease and calm. We would like to go back to Livorno and do the bus tour again as it looked so nice down by the sea front and go on the funicular railway hopefully without the rain.
