Toscana Privata da Roma: Vino, Pienza e Panorami Val d'Orcia

We asked for an English speaking guide and got an Italian speaking driver. Took us to 2 places Montepulciano and Pienza. Skipped the vineyard. Other than that sightseeing was stopping on the side of the road to take pictures. The driver was kind enough to take a small detour to see the Val D'Orcia region. Paid a premium price and got a bad experience.

This was our worst experience in all of Italy! Our driver tried hard but spoke no English (requested English) so everything was pretty tough - arrived late, did not know the itinerary, had to find our own vineyard to see(there was supposed to be a stop at one and we really didn’t care which one- figured the company would know better), got lost trying to get back to Rome…. I could go on It was nice to see the countryside but we hired private tour to get the personal attention to detail like information about the area etc - and really just paid for an overpriced taxi driver….

Our driver, Alessandro, was wonderful. You are renting a car and driver for the day so can go wherever you want. We first needed to go to a pharmacy. Next, he took us to a wine tasting in Montepulciano. He knew a spot to take photos. Then he asked a friend for a recommendation for a restaurant. We had the most delicious food. Our next stop was Pienza for shopping and more sight seeing. This was a luxurious experience in a well-kept Mercedes. Everything about this experience was wonderful, including our professional, kind, friendly guide. Highly recommend.

Our driver ALESSANDRO was delightful...like being with an Italian friend you’ve known a long time. Even though we thought we wanted to do a ton he let us savor a few life changing experiences...one of the best days of our lives. The day in Sienna was magical, pizza next level (and I was a kid in NYC) and a wine tasting/tour that was phenomenal. Thanks for a great day!!
