Tour Guidato di Pompei e Vesuvio da Vico Equense: Storia, Natura e Sapori

What an experience being at the summit of Vesuvius. You need to have the right shoes and be moderately fit. I have angina and I made it back alive. Pizza and drink after were lovely. Pompeii was extremely hot in July so need to stay hydrated. Only disappointing thing was we only got to see one of the casts. Nevertheless it was an amazing experience. Our guide was so helpful and knowledgeable. Once again HP travel were excellent.

The trip was great overall. Our guide, Luca, was very friendly and shared a ton of knowledge with us on the ride to Vesuvius. We made a pit stop for bathroom break at a place that sells Limoncello and other things. Supposedly authentic but honestly felt like the literal definition of a tourist trap - cause we were trapped lol. They were nice and not pushy and I’m all for the tour companies supporting local business, but to sell it as a spot for clean, working bathrooms, when it’s porta potties- don’t insult us. Vesuvius climb was everything you’d expect at the end of June - hot, humid, exhausting. But it’s all worth it at the top! Pizza lunch afterward was high quality. Pompeii guide (can’t remember his name) was ok, but my family felt that he wasn’t fluent enough in English to be the English speaking tour guide. We had a really hard time understanding him. I’m sure he’s very knowledgeable, we just feel we could have gotten more out of it.
