The palace, built by a Cardinal of untold wealth, is a stunning sight with floor to ceiling decoration and a host of Old Masters. The main hall is immense, conveying the wealth and power of the owner, strangely contradicted by the portraits of St Francis and other penniless figures. The garden, huge for the centre of a major city, is a gem, with superb views if you climb to the top. Attendants are attentive and friendly, making the visit an absolute pleasure.
