Escursione sull'Etna: trekking ai crateri sommitali con jeep 4x4 da Catania

Huge praise for our guide! Everything was at the highest possible level, from the starting point all the way to the summit at 3,400 m. The organization was excellent. Unfortunately, the weather was not on our side, which made the whole experience much more difficult. Heavy rain and snow turned an already demanding terrain into an even more challenging one. You really need to be in good physical shape for an adventure like this!

Nagyon jól szervezett volt a lebonyolítás. mozgalmas volt. Érdekes útvonalon mentünk. Talán a csoport létszáma több volt a vártnál, de ez nem okozott problémát. Közel 3300m-ig jutottunk fel, de az Etna aktivitása miatt valószínűleg nem lehetett volna semmiképp magasabbra menni. A túravezető szakmaiságában maximálisan megbízta. Nagy élmény volt az Etna pöfögő kráter mellett állni.

I had such brilliant time on this tour! The guides and drivers were so accomodating- we got caught in the rain and were given dry clothes and are wet clothes were left to dry for us for when we came back. The actual volcano was surreal and it was completely worth going all the way to the summit. While this tour was quite pricey (with an additional 82 euros for the jeep transport) I think it was well worth it considering how easy the experience was made by a pick up from Catania, a break for food, small guided groups, all necessary gear included and clear directions from the guides the entire way. We were also given very cute postcards as a souvenir which was a nice touch!

Unfortunately the weather was so bad that we were not able to enjoy or see any part of this activity. It was so cloudy that we could not see more than a few meters ahead. In these situations, it would be fair from the company to cancel the activity. In some cases, it did not feel safe. At the top of the crater, you could not see or hear anything except very hard winds. The bus up the mountain felt unsafe due to extremely bad visibility (probably the drivers know the way very well, but we were uncomfortable). We knew there would be additional costs to be paid in cash, however we were informed less than 24h before the trip that this was 80EUR per person, which we thought was very expensive. If we had known this amount beforehand, we would not have booked this trip. Also, we were not a small group of max 8 people? But a group of 23 with 3 guides. That’s a very different experience. The trip lasted 4.5h tops, not 6h as mentioned. All in all a big disappointment that cost us 320EUR….

The tour itself was great but it absolutely doesn’t match the value for the 160 EUR we ended up paying with the “jeep” which was basically a bus with wheels proper for the mountain. Our guide Luca was knowledgeable and easy to understand but towards the end he lost his patience and started to hurry us which I absolutely didn’t appreciate given how much we paid for this experience. The view was great to the summit and he was kind to let us look into and take photos of the crater. Also it was ridiculous we had to pay for the toilet at the visitor center after again such high fee. Our driver was also somehow what disorganized, we asked to be dropped off at the bus station which was near a pick up point anyway and he eventually went back to the same pick up point where be picked one of us and complained why we didn’t tell him in advance where we want to go. I told him I said before. I also believe he should communicate the order of pick up and drop off points so people can choose.

Our trip up Etna, under the excellent guidance of Titiana and Antonio, was amazing! It was very well organised and professional. Antionio did a great job of driving 8 of us from Catania to the start of the walk. The walk was very well paced. The route was full of interest, including debris from the most recent eruption, steam and other gases. Our guides helped us understand more about volcanos. The guides were kind, thoughtful and paid attention to safety at all times. Etna also deserves at least 5 stars!

Consiglio vivamente questo tour, ben organizzato, con guide preparate, cordiali e simpatiche. A livello organizzativo ben attrezzati... Ti forniscono il materiale necessario. Il tour costa 160€...Di cui 80€ per la jeep 4*4 che ti servirà per arrivare al punto di partenza, da pagare in loco... Prezzo che non viene specificato al momento della prenotazione.

Brilliant experience, so glad I booked it. The guide was great and so was the pacing. I would recommend to anyone coming to Sicily, such a unique hike to do! I did book this particular activity to avoid the cable car, however due to recent volcanic activity that route was not safe to do at the time. Even so I didn’t mind, definitely worth it!

The tour was absolutely incredible! The hike was great, and the 4x4 bus takes care of the most challenging parts, making the experience much more enjoyable. We had amazing views of the craters, and there were several breaks along the way to make sure everyone was comfortable during the hike. The only thing I think is worth mentioning is that there is an additional €80 fee that must be paid in cash during the tour. We were only informed about this one day before, and I had some trouble withdrawing the money because I don’t usually travel with a physical card and normally use contactless payments. It would be helpful to know about this requirement in advance. Other than that, everything was fantastic! It’s definitely worth it, and I would absolutely do this tour again.
