San Gimignano: Hands in the Dough Cooking Class

This was the best activity we could have asked for! Max and Daniela were excellent hosts the whole experience, we began with being told a bit about the winery and from there began the process of make pasta from scratch getting to measure our own ingredients, kneed the dough and press and shape the pasta. We then went on to create our own tiramisu from scratch, and we were later able to enjoy all the food we made in a three course meal with our tiramisu for desert! Following the cooking whilst our food was being prepared, we had a wine tasting with a selection of the premium wines they sell at the winery, with cold meats and cheeses, whilst being explained what should be paired with which kinds of dishes and courses. We were also able to taste the premium Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar from the winery which is like nothing we had tasted before! It was such a great experience and I would recommend to anyone visiting San Gimignano and Tuscany!

It was such a wonderful experience from start to finish. We took a cooking class where we made fresh pasta and tiramisu with a chef who has over 30 years of experience. She was patient, knowledgeable, and made the class both fun and informative. Afterwards, we enjoyed a guided wine tasting with Diogo, who was incredibly knowledgeable, attentive, and passionate about the wines. We got to enjoy the tasting while eating the delicious pasta we had made ourselves, along with a selection of extras, including balsamic vinegar and other local flavours. It was the perfect combination of great food, excellent wine, and warm hospitality. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting the area!

Ik werd hartelijk welkom geheten door de gids. Ze wist veel van de geschiedenis te vertellen van het wijnhuis. Ik kreeg een welkomsdrankje en daarna zijn we aan de pasta workshop begonnen. Superleuk om echt met je eigen handen het deeg te kneden en je eigen pasta te bereiden, helemaal fantastisch. Daarna een borrelplankje gekregen met allerlei lokale lekkernijen en daarbij zes verschillende wijnen geproefd en op het laatst nog een Vino Santos gedronken samen met mijn zelfgemaakte tiramisu zeker een aanbeveling om te doen.

Outstanding cooking and wine experience. Micheal, our sommelier and English guide, was truly amazing and provided the maximum attention to us explaining every step in detail. We learned a lot of tips and tricks when making pasta and tiramisu which was later prepared for us with two different sauces. We also had the privilege to try seven different types of wine, homemade olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Every dish was paired with its wine which Michael guided us through with loads of detail. We had the best time for three hours during this activity and were full of not only great food and wine but also of great memories.

We hebben een leuke middag gehad en de uitleg tijdens de workshop was steeds duidelijk en interessant. De degustatie van de eigen producten was goed verzorgd en alles werd uitgebreid toegelicht. Wel vonden we dat de activiteit eerder een degustatie was dan een echte kookworkshop. De bloem voor de pasta lag bijvoorbeeld al afgewogen klaar, waardoor we enkel nog de eieren moesten toevoegen en het deeg kneden. Ook voor de tiramisu maakten we het beslag niet zelf; we werkten enkel ons eigen potje af. Na ongeveer een halfuur koken schakelden we over naar de degustatie. Persoonlijk had ik liever meer tijd besteed aan het bereiden van de pasta en de saus, zodat het kookgedeelte wat uitgebreider aanvoelde. Al bij al was het een leuke ervaring met veel interessante uitleg met zorg gebracht.

Valentino and Daniela are very kind. But this is sold as a cooking class but it is really a wine, oil and vinegar tasting. They have their domains and want to sell their products. But paying over 250€ to eat small pasta plates with truffle oil that they want to sell you and the other with a mushroom sauce, way overpriced. Yes we tried maybe 6 different wines, but tiny glasses. The starter platter was basic with a small selection of hams, a slice of 3 different kinds. We were just expecting more of a class with actual pasta and sauces made by us plus a dessert. I feel like the description and the reviews are misleading. Would have not spent as much as we did for what it was.
