Full-Day Mount Etna & Wine Tour from Taormina: Explore Craters, Lava Caves & Taste Sicilian Flavors

A great day out. Rosario was an interesting guide very knowledgeable about the history of Etna. Very patient with those who were not as comfortable with the terrain without detracting from the experience from others. The lava cave was a bit of a non event however. The wine tasting was good, but limited, in a lovely location. The local food very good. Overall a very good trip in a rugged and beautiful location.

The Etna guided part of the excursion was excellent and Julia was a fantastic guide. The wine tasting and lunch was less good, very little explanation, no atmosphere no explanation about the food with the wine and only 3 small glasses of wine. It was not great, no atmosphere, it felt like a restaurant with no choice. Pity because the Etna guided tour part was excellent.

Our guide was local and very knowledgeable. A careful and steady driver which made for a better experience all round. We enjoyed the walk up Etna and found it a really interesting experience. The wine part was OK. We tried 3 wines with a board of cheeses and meat with breadsticks to share for each 3 people. we were all starving by the time we got there!! A small amount of information for the first 2 wines but the third, a red was given with a pasta dish with no information. It may be we missed something but I would have liked to hear something about the actual winery whilst there and had been expecting a small tour but after our food our guide told us there was no rush but she would wait outside. None of the group seemed to want to venture outside so I nipped out the back to at least take a picture. I found this part of the tour lacked structure and could have been much more. Lastly, the toilet area downstairs are the most confusing space. If you do the trip you will understand!

Heute waren wir mit Jaquline in Richtung Ätna unterwegs. Es war ein traumhafter Ausflug – einen besseren Reiseführer kann man sich wirklich nicht wünschen! Jaquline spricht perfekt Deutsch, ist unglaublich herzlich und konnte uns all unsere Fragen kompetent beantworten. Man merkt sofort, dass sie ihre Heimat liebt und ihr Wissen mit viel Freude vermittelt. Die anschließende Wein- und Olivenölverkostung mit typisch italienischen Antipasti war ebenfalls perfekt und hat den wunderschönen Tag wunderbar abgerundet.
