Palermo: Valley of the Temples & Villa Romana del Casale with Guide

This tour was much better than the other one I did with this company (Cefalu and Monreale, which was awful). The Valley of the Temples was interesting and the guide was very knowledgeable, but in my opinion, we spent a bit too much time there. Walking around in the heat for that long became quite exhausting. The villa was absolutely amazing and definitely the highlight of the trip. The lunch break took place during the hottest part of the day, after visiting both the Valley of the Temples and the villa, and right before heading back to Palermo. We stopped at a fast food place and had to eat sitting on chairs outside in the sun. After already spending hours walking around in the heat, this felt very uncomfortable and unnecessarily exhausting. The food was also just basic sandwiches and fast food, so I didn’t find the stop worthwhile. Overall, I enjoyed the tour, mainly because of the villa, but I think the timing and organization need to be improved.

We were transferred in a lovely air conditioned new mini-bus to the Agrigento. It's an early start and a nice drive. Our guide at the The Valley of the Temples was excellent. Sadly I forget her name... it may have been Serena ??? She was enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. Our driver and "the guide" during the transfers barely spoke. To be honest I am not sure what the function of "the guide" was. It took around 90 mins to get to The Roman Villa from Agrigento. At the Roman Villa we had the option to pay 10 Euros per person for a local guide. 10 out of 12 of us opted for this. I thought it was worthwhile as the guide pointed out things that I would not have focused on.

C'était génial! Je recommande. Deux grands sites en une journée avec une organisation sans faille. Le chauffeur nous a déposé au retour à la gare, ça nous a facilité beaucoup de choses, car nous avons eu un train à prendre. Service, gentillesse, serviabilité! Le guide parlant anglais était un passionné, nous a guidé pendant 2 heures à travers la vallée des temples. En un mot cela vaut la peine, allez y les yeux fermés.

Sono due siti archeologici meravigliosi, ben conservati, che sicuramente vanno visitati passando per la Sicilia.Noi siamo partiti da Palermo, ma il viaggio è stato confortevole, il nostro autista, Roberto bravo e cortese. Nel tour della Valle dei Templi abbiamo avuto come guida Sergio, anche lui preparato e simpatico, che ci ha raccontato tante cose interessanti in maniera per niente noiosa. Unica cosa nel costo del tour potrebbero essere messi i biglietti magari a parte.

This tour was excellent. No hidden costs, every info communicated upfront. The driver brought us by van to Agrigento. The van had proper air conditioning, was very comfortable and clean. The guide in Agrigento was terrific. He's really good,vivid and detailed storyteller. The trip starts early in the morning because of the heat. Vila Romana is also worth the visit. I recommend 100%
