The gold panning experience in Casalcermelli is a full-day guided experience, also suitable for beginners. Everything is organized to allow participants to experience the activity in a simple and safe way, accompanied by an expert guide.
The day begins at Cascina Merlanetta with a visit to the "Oro dell'Orba" museum, where the history of the area and the origin of the gold found in the Orba stream are explained. The theoretical part also takes place here, with an explanation of the prospecting techniques and the use of the tools.
This is followed by a practical demonstration of the prospector's pan, with which you learn to sift sand and gravel to detect any traces of gold. All gear is included: a pan and rain boots are provided on site.
The practical part takes place along the Orba stream, in the nature reserve, where participants apply what they have learned, always assisted by the guide.
Any small gold flakes found can be kept as a souvenir.
