Civitavecchia: Cooking Class, Olive Oil & Wine Tasting with Artisanal Gelato

We were delighted with our cooking class with chef Patricia and guide Dario. They are both excellent at their professions. They went above and beyond our expectations. Dario answered our many questions and explained everything as we walked and observed. Patricia’s cooking is from the heart. She made several more recipes than were listed. They were all amazing. I didn’t know food could be that fresh. It was fun going to the market with Dario and learning how to choose the best fruit and vegetables. This tour is a must if you have a spare day in Civitavechia.

We signed up for this experience expecting a cooking class, but it turned out to be one of the highlights of our entire vacation. Our guide, Dario, was unbelievable! He was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience so much fun. He even went above and beyond by walking us all the way back to the boat afterward, which was incredibly thoughtful and appreciated. The market tour was a wonderful way to experience the local culture. We loved learning about the fresh ingredients, chatting with the vendors, and taking photos along the way. Once we got to the kitchen, we met Patrizia, who was fantastic. She was patient, encouraging, and even gave us the measurements for each recipe so we could write them down and recreate everything at home. As a special bonus, we got to learn how to prepare zucchini flowers, which was something we’d never done before and made the experience even more memorable. Every dish we made was absolutely delicious, and there was plenty of food to enjoy. T
