Palermo Sicilian Cooking Class with Capo Market Tour

We had a blast with Patrizia for our market tour and cooking experience! We enjoyed visiting each of the different shops as we shopped for the meal we’d cook together, along the way asking all about Palermo and Sicily. The cooking was casual, allowing us to get as involved as we wanted to - or not so we could sit back, drink wine, and chat. The food was delicious, we cooked a pasta with red pesto, breaded chicken, and finished it off with a cannoli with handmade filling. Patrizia was lovely to spend the morning with and we’d absolutely recommend her tour for your visit to Palermo!

What a fantastic experience we had during this cooking class with Patrizia. As it was mid-December, there were just two of us, so it was lovely to have Patrizia and her kittens all to ourselves. It was also so nice to spend time in her lovely home with views of the cathedral. From the cheese and wine starters to the amazing pasta and stuffed chicken to Patrizia's homemade limoncello, every moment of this experience was a treat. I recommend this class wholeheartedly!

The best experience we have had in 10 weeks Italy touring! I can’t say enough: about Patricia as a chef and a host, about her lovely venue, about the tastes of the food we made. Our cooking evening made me love Palermo and we wait with expectancy to return:). And, I asked to buy her cookbook, so I can bring a piece of this evening home to share with my family! Er war eine tolle Aktivität. Aber es war kein Kochkurs im „klassischen Sinn“. Es began mit einem netten kurzen Spaziergang über den Markt. Leider wurde an den jeweiligen Marktständen nicht viel gezeigt, es wurde einfach eingekauft für das spätere Kochen. Ich kenne solche Marktspaziergänge andernorts „interaktiver“ und mit mehr Passion. Der Markt gibt so viel her, leider wurde dieses Potential nicht genutzt. In der Wohnung/Küche angekommen wurden zwar kleinere Zwischenschritte gezeigt und man konnte auch div. kleinere Aktivitäten wie z.B. Auberginen schneiden, ein Teil der Gruppe formte Nudel, usw. mit machen, aber man selbst war nicht am Kochen, sondern mehr „nur dabei“. Selbst richtig kochen war nicht das Ziel, sondern mehr das gesellige Miteinander. Und das war schön. Zusehen, reden, Wein trinken. Wenn das das Ziel gewesen wäre, perfekt. Aber es war ein Kochkurs. Leider gab es auch keine Rezepte o.ä. zum Nachkochen. Wie gesagt, guter Wein, gutes Essen u. Geselligkeit, aber Kochkurs.

Sehr nettes Einkaufserlebnis auf dem historischen Markt del Capo, wo wir Oliven, Käse, Gemüse und Fisch eingekauft haben. Danach dann Zubereitung eines traditionellen Viergang-Menues in der Wohung von Patrizia, die sehr schön gegenüber der Kathedrale von Palermo gelegen ist. Patrizia ist eine sehr natürliche und umgängliche Person, die die Zeit unkompliziert und kurzweilig gestaltet hat. Ich hatte anfnags etwas Sorge, da ich alleine war und dann 4+ Std mit einer unbekannten Person lange werden können, doch neben Kochen haben wir noch über alles mögliche gesprochen, so dass die Zeit schnell verging.

I loved the course. Patrizia was a knowledgable host and chef, we had a good talk together with her daughter (I was alone on the tour that day) - especially about their upcoming recipe book. In the end it felt like saying good bye to old friends while being stuffed with wine and amazing homemade Sicilian dishes. If I ever come back to Palermo, I might do the tour again!
