Our guide, Lorenzo, was terrific, in every way. Although the majority of our tour group spoke Italian and only two of us spoke English, he switched back and forth, so we never felt left out. He is very knowledgeable, and presented information in an interesting manner. He was attentive to everyone. The wine and food tasting was fun. Lunch was available for purchase, and was good. Portions were very big. This was our best tour

We were privileged to have Carmello as our guide; his infectious charm and ridiculous amounts of energy, not forgetting his deep knowledge and love of the region, took what would have been a great trip to a whole new level. The ride in the minibus from our pickup point to and from the cable car was an adventure in itself, and taught us a great deal. At the top of the cable car he handed us over to another guide who drove us up even higher and took us on a 45-minute trek across the desolate and dramatic landscape. He was also excellent and able to impart his expert knowledge in an easy to understand way. Once we'd got back down we were taken on a scenic drive to a lava cave, which was well worth it and beautifully explained, and then to a food and wine tasting of local produce, which was great and prompted us to get a hamper shipped back home. Altogether a fantastic day out. Not terribly cheap, but well worth it!
