Montepulciano: Handmade Pasta-Making Class with Tasting and Wine

This was not a great experience for us unfortunately. And we were really looking forward to it. The person in charge was also in charge of the entire reception of the hotel, it took place in a hotel lobby and we were constantly interrupted by guests needing assistance. Not at all the experience we were under the assumption we were receiving. It’s a shame because the woman in charge was very nice and trying her best but she was stressed out and unable to dedicate the time to our activity as she was alone managing the entire property. I’ve reached out to the company directly in hopes of receiving some sort of refund. This activity was a huge disappointment and a waste of time and money.

Our pasta making experience in Montepulciano was spectacular! We made pici aglione under the direction of our home chef, Simonetta and her assistant Susanna. There were 4 in my group, and an additional family of 4 joined us. This all took place in a beautiful farmhouse off the beaten path (gracious hostess, Irena, and her super friendly pair of boxers, Mamba and her mother whose name I can’t recall). It was a spectacular experience. We picked strawberries for one of the 3 bruschettas that we made. We then made our own pici pasta. And we dined out on the patio enjoying the fruits of our labor! It was outstanding!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

It is a rustic home and we made a fresh pasta noodle and a flavorful sauce. The ladies in our group really enjoyed it. If you want an Italian in Home farm experience, it is a good choice. Not a chef’s kitchen but an Italian home. The young woman would translate. They were very nice and it was great for a first time pasta making experience.. There were 8 of us.

The grounds are beautiful and the cooking setting was intimiate, just for the 4 of us. There was plenty of prepping space. Irene was extremely friendly and sociable! We made three different pastas; pici, tagliatelle and ravioli. The sauce was so simple and smelled as delicious as it tasted. We relaxed over a bottle of wine while the pasta was cooking. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience and I HIGHLY recommend to anyone traveling in Tuscany! Mangiare!

We signed up for a pasta making class at a Tuscan farmhouse, but what we got did not match our expectations. The class was held at a large bed and breakfast rather than a farm house. The instructor barely spoke English and did not give clear or detailed instructions, and if it weren't for another pasta class that we had taken earlier in the trip, we would not have known what to do. The instructor also disappeared for 20 minutes halfway through the class to check a guest into the bed and breakfast and show them to their room. Finally, the instructor appears to have served some of the ravioli and tomato sauce that the class made to a couple of restaurant guests that sat down next to us at dinner when we were eating the food we cooked. My friends and I were disappointed and uncomfortable with this experience, particularly given how much we had paid for it.
