Mount Etna Tour from Taormina & Naxos with Pickup

The description said it is Etna 3000 + Alcantara with the duration of 8h for the whole tour, but in reality it was only Etna tour without Alcantara. That disappointed me. The bus guide said it is outdated description from the last year. But the thing is that we choose by description and it is a crucial part since we decide by it which offer to take. I thought we paid 230 € for both places included and it wasn't the case.. Nonetheless, the Vulcano is worth to see and guide Gabriel was brilliant, too, very on point. I recommend everyone to take the tour to Etna. Also, the funivia would have been an amazing experience. You might search for tours that include the cable car. Still, it was I nice half day, everything else went smoothly with no other issues 😊

I rate the excursion very negatively. The trip should have been cancelled due to extremely poor weather conditions — strong wind, thick fog, and visibility reduced to just 30–40 meters. It was obvious that nothing could be seen at the top, which made the whole experience meaningless. Tourists have no way to assess mountain conditions on their own; this is the responsibility of the organizers and the volcanologist-guide, who should act professionally and responsibly. The guide’s remark, “Conditions are difficult, so use your imagination,” perfectly sums up the attitude toward clients. Very disappointing and not worth the money. According to official forecasts (including 3Bmeteo, IL Meteo, and MeteoAM), the conditions at higher altitudes were harsh and unsafe, making the trip completely pointless from a tourist perspective. The essence of their approach to clients was perfectly captured in the guide’s comment: > “Conditions are difficult, so use your imagination.”

Mt. Etna was fantastic - if you get car sick, prepare for that because it’s a giant off-roading truck and it’s very bumpy terrain. It’s also cold, so bring layers! But it was very cool. Alcantara felt a little like a tourist trap - the Gorge was cool, but the whole set up seems very much geared toward getting money from tourists for an Earth-made splash pad. You’ll probably only have time to go swimming if you don’t visit the botanical garden.
