Messina: Pasta & Tiramisu Cooking Class at a Local's Home

We had a fabulous time with Stefania and her family! We felt welcome and comfortable in their lovely home and had so much fun making pasta and tiramisu. Once the "work" was completed we had an absolutely delicious delicious lunch made from the pasta we had made. We are a family of 2 57 yos, a 20 yo & an 87 yo and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It was nice to get to know Stefania's family and learn more about the culture of Messina and Sicily. I highly recommend this experience as it was one of the highlights of our 3 week trip.

Stephania’s son picked us up near the port and drove us to their home. We had an amazing time learning how to make tiramisu, ravioli, and fettuccine from scratch. After the cooking lesson, we were seated with a glass of wine and a delicious charcuterie board while our ravioli and fettuccine were being prepared. The entire experience was outstanding. The food was incredible—honestly better than many restaurant meals—and the warm hospitality made it even more special. To top it all off, Stephania’s son drove us back to the port afterward. This was truly a memorable experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and enjoyable cooking class.

Mariella was just fabulous. Our group was 2 moms and 2 college daughters and we were looking for something to do, near the cruise terminal on a Sunday (when many businesses are closed). Mariella gave us easy directions on our meeting location and walked us to her home. The experience was far more than we hoped for. We all participated in the preparation of our food in a very cozy atmosphere and were treated like guests with fabulous hospitality. And the dishes were amazing!!! If we make it back to Messina, we will definitely come see Mariella again! As a side note, I made 2 of her dishes last night for my family and they turned out great! Tip: make sure you get the tiramisu as your dessert…the best thing I put in my mouth the entire trip!

This was my dream date, and I am so happy to say that it surpassed my highest expectations. After booking, we arranged through Whatsapp to be picked up right from the cruise port. (Additional €). We arrived to their flat which had a charming kitchen, dining area, and a beautiful terrace with a view! Roselle guided us through making two different types of pasta: spinach raviolis and a fettuccine in pesto sauce. While our pasta dough rested, we prepared the Tiramisu and enjoyed some Aperitivo: prosecco, open-faced sandwiches, nuts, and chips. The whole experience was carefully curated, easy to follow, and really fun (even for my boyfriend who never cooks). We loved everything we made! It was some of the best food we had in all of Italy. At the end of our experience, Roselle gave us a sweet souvenir of our day together. Overall it was truly one of our most cherished memories from our vacation. Thank you Guiseppe and Roselle. We had an unforgettable time.

omg! this was an amazing tour. we were bonded as a family, it gave us a glimpse of how people live and it made me want to go home and make pasta. my 15 year old said we should do this for family time once a month! im glad we decided to do this, we will have forever remember our time together. the added bonus is that we met other people and had great conversation
