Syracuse: Ortigia Street Food Walking Tour with Tastings

Giuseppe led the BEST food tour of Ortigia! Would highly recommend doing this tour early on in your visit to Ortigia so you have time to return to all the spots he recommends. Highlights include being hand fed fresh cheese at the market and getting to go into the kitchen to see arancini being made. We went back to three of his stops multiple times during our 3 day trip (I seriously wonder if the owners of the ice cream shop worried about us, we basically camped out there for two days, even running into Giuseppe there with his family the night after the tour). He infused interesting cultural history and anecdotes into the tour, and paced it perfectly so there were long enough spaces between food stops so you never felt too full or rushed. We ate a perfect amount of food for the length of the tour and it felt like a great value for the cost. A must-do tour for anyone visiting Ortigia who enjoys authentic food and great company.

This was more than a food tour. Our guide, Brenda, was friendly and knowledgeable. She not only brought us to locations with great food and told us about what we were eating, she also told us about buildings and landmarks along the way. We had a great time and recommend this tour for anyone looking to eat great local food, and learn about some of the history of Ortigia along the way.

Fabulous! The food was excellent and Giuseppe is a fun, entertaining guide who took us off the beaten path to some “secret” spots around Ortigia. We really felt like we got an insider’s view of the town. By the end of the tour we had tasted so many more things than were listed in the description. One of the best tours we’ve taken in Italy!

Giuseppe was an amazing guide. He shared the history and stories of Ortigia and Siracusa with us while taking us to fabulous spots to taste different types of food in Ortigia. We also stopped into a few secret hidden gems that had nothing to do with food as well as experiencing the architectural history and historic landmarks with his in depth knowledge. We are so thrilled we found this tour and that we were lucky enough to have Giuseppe as our guide!!

She was very knowledgeable about the food and went above and beyond to give us information not only about the food we were trying but also about the city and its history. We loved all her recommendations to the point that we went back to the shops and restaurants the days after our tour. Highly recommend this tour if it’s your first time in Syracuse / Ortigia!
