Umbria: Guided Tour of Traditional Oil Mill with Oil, Wine & Local Product Tasting

This was absolutely fantastic - we learned so much about traditional olive oil production in Umbria, from a fourth generation olive oil producer on his family’s farm. There is probably nothing that Enrico at Frantoio del Sero doesn’t know about how to grow olives, how to process and press them, and how to use his beautiful green liquid to its best. We were expertly guided through how olive trees grow and are harvested, gazing at some of his trees outside the mill. We then went inside and talked about how the olives are processed and the various by products that come from the pressing process. We then had a tour of the mill, each step of the labour intensive process explained… and then came the opportunity to taste his wonderful oil! We met his sister, also in the family business. We particularly appreciated his patient answering of questions, whilst discussing the many difficulties of carrying on this important and historic tradition. Not to be missed and highly recommended

An absolutely brilliant and incisive tour covering the whole gambit of Olive Oil production using traditional methods on a farm, Del Sero Frantoio Olive Farm owned by the family for over 120years. Enrico Del Sero's english was really good to the extent that there are some complicated parts of the process and machinery to explain and he is obviously passionate and proud about his craft. The end result is just delicious and I would challenge anyone to find better quality in the region. His sister who also works as part of the family set up, produced wonderful bruschetta with a generous covering of their olive oil and an obligatory glass of red wine to round off a memorable event. An absolute must if you are a fan of Olive Oil or even if you are vaguely interested!

Wat een fantastische tour! We werden hartelijk ontvangen en er werd heel veel informatie gegeven over het maken van olijfolie! Zelden zo'n fijne rondleiding gehad en er werd heel goed Engels gesproken! Daarna een heerlijke proeverij met Bruscetta's, olijfolie en zelfs een wijntje en er was zelfs wat speelgoed voor de kinderen. Prijs kwaliteit bizar goed! ook hebben we heerlijke olie gekocht. Echt een aanrader! Kies geen andere, maar ga naar deze!

This was an amazing tour, so lucky we found it. Enrico was a fabulous host, very knowledgeable and patient, answering all our questions about the facility. He genuinely cares about his craft, and made the tour very interesting. The flavour of the oil was outstanding and we really enjoyed our feast at the end of the tour. Would highly recommend this to anyone looking to visit!

"Piccolo" frantoio a conduzione familiare...Enrico e la sorella persone appassionate e ovviamente super preparate su tutto quello che concerne il mondo delle olive. Interessante e chiara nelle spiegazioni dei vari processi la visita ai macchinari (che giustamente non erano in funzione non essendo stagione). Ottima la degustazione del loro olio e di salumi e formaggi tipici della regione. Super consigliato
