Venice: Grand Canal by Boat with an Expert Guide

Leonardo is very personable, knowledgeable and skilled boat captain. We thoroughly enjoyed a 4 hour lagoon tour with stops in Murano to see the art of glass blowing and Burano the colorful fishing village. As a native Venetian, Leonardo was very informative about the history and changes to the lagoon and water tides. We had a really pleasant time and recommend this activity.

The grand canal boat ride was amazing! I was so lucky because I was the only one on the boat tour besides the driver and the tour guide. My tour guide Sarah was so knowledgeable about Venice and shared so many interesting stories about all the places we saw along the way. At the end of the tour, she even helped give me directions to places I needed to go. My tour guide Sarah made the experience so wonderful and unforgettable! Thank you!

Couldn’t find the meeting place until it was too late. The instructions were off and the column with the flying lion on it I thought was on the Doge Palace not next to it as a stand alone structure. You don’t see the lion unless you’re looking up and we were so worried about not running into people that it wasn’t noticeable. Ask around to other vendors and no one had a clue as to where we should go. Very poor instructions

Jennifer was fantastic as guide. She really explained the history of Venice well and through in a funny joke here and there. The weather was great for this tour today too so there were no restrictions for the tower or due to higher tides so we saw everything on the grand canal. So if you want to see a lot of the canal and you don’t have much time this is right for you. Also I was traveling with my mom who is mobility impaired and Jennifer along with the driver were very accommodating.

Meeting point and guide were very easy to find. The group was only 3 people and the guide. Very small and intimate which made it easy to talk amongst each other and hear our guide. We continued to the boat area where we got onto a water taxi - which is riding in style. It was comfortable, warm, and fun. We made multiple stops along the way of the tour and had a lot of the history of Venice explained to us. The final destination was the tower. It is worth it. It is by far one of the most spectacular views I have ever seen. Plus, it wasn't very crowded either. Also got a very detailed description of all the islands you could see. Emmanuella was our guide and she was amazing. She is very energetic, makes the history part of the trip very easy to follow and understand, and was very prepared. She is very passionate about the city and it really made the experience the best it could possible be.
