Pompeii: Skip-the-Line Guided Tour with an Expert Archaeologist

Our tour was excellent, our guide was friendly and informative. I think it would be really useful to have a map of Pompeii outlining the route the tour takes. That way, when the tour has finished and we are left to see more on our own, we would be able to clearly see the areas we haven’t been to. Pompeii is vast and confusing and that would be really helpful.

We enjoyed the tour very much. It was tiring but worth it. There is nothing negative to say about the guide who was excellent. We would do it again. The only point of improvement would be to clarify a little more how to meet up and identify the guide initially. Then at the end to clarify the point relative to the entry point. But these are minor things.

The tour guide (archaeologist) was excellent and we did the three hour tour. Deeply passionate about Pompeii and absolutely tons of knowledge. Pompeii is massive and hot. Buy a UV umbrella to protect from the heat because it's just you, the sun and stone. You could probably do 5 guided tours and never repeat the same places. A "not to be missed' activity.

The tour guide was exceptional she was one of the university archeologist and tour guide in tourist season. Very interesting tour with some amazing new excavations only just opened to the public. Colours, details and walking the streets really made you feel you were walking in the footsteps of Romans and reliving their lives. We are a family of 4, kids now adults really enjoyed the history of Pompeii and it has been a place I have wanted to visit for many years.

John is an exceptional guide, and took care of our needs with his full attention for the entire duration of the tour. He was easy to find at the top of the cable car exit, and was completely flexible to our preferences. He provided great information along the way, and was easy and fun to chat with. It was an expensive tour, but John's attentiveness and sincerity made up for the value. He truly made our Santorini visit special, we feel we made a good friend - thank you John!
