Lucca: Morning Food Tour with Snacks and Coffee

Marta was delightful and very passionate about showing us the town, its culture, its food and its rich history. She is quite knowledgeable and made Lucca come alive for us! We are so happy we did this tour and grateful it was with Marta. We loved her kindness, her love for her town, and she made us feel like we were old friends getting together to enjoy a great cappuccino and a sweet treat. I highly recommend this tour with any reservations!

it was such a pleasure to be guided through Lucca by Chiara. She is very knowledgeable and very charming. we were a small group of 3 people which was lovely. the food on the tour was very nice and generous. it was the perfect start for a holiday to get an overview on sights, history and local specialities. my friend and i are tourist guides ourselves in our country and therefore had high expectations which were fully met in Chiara. it was just the right amount of information. Absolutely wonderful experience! This was one of the highlights of our trip to Lucca and it was a last minute decision to book the day before - we are so happy we did! Our tour guide Sara was not only highly knowledgeable on Lucca’s history, she was passionate about sharing what makes Lucca so special. We were able to see all the significant places within the walls of Lucca and also sit to take a break while Sara brought us various plates of food and drinks that are significant to the city. She sat and chatted with us at the end while we all enjoyed a glass of wine and more food and that’s where she said her farewell to us. But before leaving, she gave us personal recommendations for restaurants, etc based on what we talked about during the tour. In a follow-up email that evening she summarized what we had seen and sampled that day with a typed our list of her said recommendations. 10/10 do this tour! (May not be the greatest for kids younger than 16 unless they love history!).

Sara was really friendly and explained a lot about the history of the local area, as well as taking us to some places to eat delicious food. We tried several local dishes which Sara explained all about, all were fantastic! The reason for not giving 5 stars is that due to it being Monday, many of the coffee shops were shut and so we could not do our first stop for coffee and cake. Sara was great and took us to an extra stop later on instead, but it would have been good to know about this in advance as it meant our first food stop was not for some while (we had all skipped breakfast at our hotel in anticipation of the breakfast stop on the tour). All in all it was a great experience and definitely recommend - maybe avoid booking on a Monday if you can!
