Rome: Capuchin Crypts & Rome's Dark Secrets Walking Tour

Arielle was our tour guide and she was absolutely amazing!! She was so knowledgeable about everything and we ended up stopping by the Pantheon, Trevi fountain, and additional spots where she gave us very cool facts of local history! She even gave us an amazing food recommendation for afterwards. I would do this tour again, 1000/10!!! Thank you Arielle!

We did many tours in our two weeks away and this was the only one that was disappointing. I should have read the fine print, but the guide does not come in for the Crypts tour. You simply get an audio-guide. I assume others might miss this as well. I would not have booked this if I'd caught that info. That's my fault, I know. We both found the Crypts rather boring without someone telling us about it live. After the Crypts part, we walked through some areas of Rome. The guide told a few stories, but they were hard to follow and very hard to hear. No headsets were provided. We ended up over time and we had to leave. The guide was a kind, sweet lady, but this tour just didn't meet our expectations.

The best tour I've had the opportunity to do in Rome, and I was really looking forward to it. I had an unforeseen problem on the scheduled date, and the support team was very helpful and understanding in resolving my issue. The guide was also very friendly and fun, she knew many stories about the "side B" of Rome, it was super interesting. The crypt itself is a show in itself, sensational.

Our tour guide was Alice. Very nice and a very good storyteller. Said this was only her 3rd time doing this tour. This was clear based on her struggling skills and finesse as a group leader. It is important for a guide to set clear timetables for participants. We were sent into the crypts without our guide who said she wasn’t allowed in but didn’t clarify why. There was some issue when she went to check in the group that delayed our start time but she worked it out. We were not given a time that to be done in the crypts so Alice was stressed looking for stragglers. She was dependent on her phone for navigation afterwards. A more seasoned guide would have given us a better overall experience.

This tour was a highlight for us. We love getting into the behind the scenes stories where you learn about history, but also some of the lore you don't necessarily read about in text books. Alethea was an excellent guide: entertaining, funny, knowledgable and interactive. It felt like we are exloring Rome with a more experienced, smarter friend. The crypts were the highlight for sure, but the places we visited after and the stories we learned made for an even richer experience. Highly recommend.
