Imagine to be taking part of one of the Circus Maximus chariot races competitions in which participants tried to complete seven laps of the Circus Maximus. The competitors, mounted in small chariots drawn by horses, gambled much more than their prestige or large prizes in the races, since many of them were slaves fighting for their liberty.

   The Palatine Hill is one of the Seven Hills of Rome and it is one of the most ancient parts of the city as it stands right above the Roman Forum and upon the Circus Maximus.

   Of course once that you will have visited the Circus Maximus, you cannot miss the chance to admire the Campidoglio (Capitoline Hill)! It is inevitable that you will be charmed by the stunning panoramas of the Roman Forum from there.

   Monumento a Vittorio Emanuele II

   Our next stop will be Venezia Square, where is placed the Altare della Patria! This national Monument is dedicated to Vittorio Emanuele II and was inaugurated in 1911 as a tribute to the first king of Italy after the country's unification.

Located in Piazza della Rotonda, it was first built as a temple to roman gods, nowadays is considered as the best conserved Ancient Roman monument, and what’s more interesting is that nobody is sure about its age. Get impressed by its famous hole in the roof, that on summer days gives a beautiful spectacle inside.
