Viareggio: Electric Boat Tour of Marshes with Wine Tasting

Our hosts Francesca, Mauro (and Whisky the dog) were attentive, informative and created a lovely atmosphere for our tour. Traversing the marsh with regional facts interspersed with Puccini playing in the background was very relaxing. The wine and local appetisers were delicious and felt authentic. As well as informing us about the lakeside vegetation and wildlife, the commentary also explained how the region was formerly a source of raw materials for industrial processes during the early twentieth century. The rusting constructions and machinery were somewhat eerie reminders that this area was once a hive of economic activity before its current incarnation as nature reserve. All in all, a fascinating and enjoyable activity that provided a stimulus to wanting to know more about the region’s character and past.

The trip on the Padula was very peaceful and the commentary very informative, would definitely recommend. We were shown how to catch fish on a boom net and even allowed to have a go. The biscuits went down well with the wine, followed by a home made liqueur which was delightfully palatable. Francesca and our captain were really good fun to be with.

A really lovely couple of hours. A beautiful boat trip round the marshes with the stunning backdrop of the Alps. It was a truly special experience to be the only boat going round such a vast landscape. It was great to see the local wildlife and just have a peaceful time. Both of the guides were exceptionally lovely and done everything within their power to make our time the best possible. The wine tasting after was very wonderful, in such a quiet and secluded place where we could enjoy the wine, the food, the company, and of course the view. We were even afforded the opportunity to try out the local fishing techniques and have a good laugh with the other couple on the trip and the two guides. We would do this again just to sit and have some drinks again with the guides after the experience as they were such wonderful people.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A true highlight of our holiday in Tuscany! The boat tour through the swamps was peaceful, scenic, and full of little discoveries. We especially loved watching the different bird species – a real treat for nature lovers. Our two hosts were incredibly warm, kind, and clearly passionate about their region. After the tour, we were treated to a small wine tasting accompanied by delicious local snacks – the perfect way to end the experience in a relaxed atmosphere. You can feel the love and dedication they put into every detail. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience the authentic side of Viareggio, away from the usual tourist crowds. Grazie di cuore – we’ll definitely be back!

Absolutely amazing tour! Thank you so much to Francesca and Mauro. This tour was an awesome way to see the marshes and they were totally relaxing. Plus, the tour gave lots of information about the history and area that you wouldn't find in the main town. The wine and paired foods were an amazing way to top off the experience, and we even got to try our a traditional fishing technique! I'd recommend this tour to everyone who visits Viareggio!
