From the fictional love between Portia and Nerissa in the Merchant of Venice, to women who stepped outside societal norms. From Campo S. Giacomo di Rialto, where female prostitution concentrated. This is the place where famous courtesans and poetesses, such as Veronica Franco, lived. Head to the house of the first-graduated woman in the world, Eleonora Cornaro. Walk to the Bovolo Steps. Proceed to Santa Maria del Giglio on a gondola ferry-boat. Here, you see the magnificent palaces where Eleonora Duse, famous theatre actress in the early 20th century, Winaretta Singer and Peggy Guggenheim used to meet people and have parties. Then, walk to the ‘Sestriere di Dorsoduro’ . Here, you find a number of art galleries and many LGBTQ+ friendly /owned business. The tour finishes with a glass of wine!
