   According to some historians, Tivoli, founded with the name of Tibur, has even more ancient origins than Rome: the small village born in 1215 BC. and the future capital of Italy... almost 400 years later, in 753 BC. In the Middle Ages Tivoli was heavily involved in feudal disputes. The city sided with the Ghibellines to escape the hegemony of the Church... but it failed and in the 15th century. he returned under the Church. During the Second World War the city of Tivoli, which was on the route of the Nazi retreat, was repeatedly bombed by the Anglo-American air force which aimed to interrupt the railway and road communication routes between Rome and the Adriatic. From the 1980s to today, thanks also to the recognition obtained from UNESCO, Tivoli has rediscovered a very strong tourist vocation. The many Roman remains, temples and villas make Tivoli one of the most valuable Roman cities full of history and tradition.
