The villa belonged to its namesake, Emperor Hadrian, the 2nd-century ruler who had the place built as a summer residence. Emperor Hadrian loved this place to the extent that he declared it his official residence—and during his later years ruled the empire from here. You will also explore the archaeological ruins of the temples, theaters, thermal baths, and statutes in the complex.
