   Piazza Grande

   The Piazza Grande in Arezzo, also known as Piazza Vasari, is one of the most beautiful squares to visit in Tuscany. Famous for being home to the ancient Giostra del Saracino, the square is characterized by an irregular and at the same time extraordinarily harmonious. Piazza Grande is the city's reference square, uniquely typical with its 16th-century porticoes.

   Another square to visit in Arezzo, in addition to Piazza Grande, is certainly Piazza Duomo, where stands the magnificent Cathedral of Saints Peter and Donato Piazza del Duomo, home to the beautiful medieval structure that crowns the plaza and houses priceless works of art by Donatello and Piero della Francesca. The spirit of the old-fashioned goldsmith shops may still be felt in Arezzo's ancient streets and alleyways.

   The Basilica of San Francesco is an important place of Catholic worship in Arezzo, famous above all for the Stories of the True Cross, a cycle of frescoes by Piero della Francesca in the chapel. Piero Della Francesca's most well-known painting from the 15th century is housed at the Basilica of San Francesco in Cappella Bacci. The Dominican friar Jacopo da Voragine's suggestions regarding the Legend of the True Cross are followed in these frescoes!
