Stop 2
2hYour journey from Florence to the Cinque Terre starts by coach, where you can relax as your guide shares stories about the area. You'll hear tales about the Tuscan city of Lucca and its famous resident Puccini and see the Carrara marble quarries from the distance before learning about the Cinque Terre and its five fishing villages—Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, Monterosso and Riomaggiore—that form the national park. Once you arrive in La Spezia, your expert tour leader will be there to guide you through the next part of your journey. Following their helpful instructions and insights, you’ll make your way to board the train and continue your adventure.
Stop 3
1hArriving by train, you’ll explore the beautiful village of Manarola, one of the most iconic towns of the Cinque Terre. With its colorful houses perched above the sea, narrow lanes, and charming piazza overlooking the water, Manarola offers a truly unforgettable setting. Take time to wander through the village, enjoy the views of the Ligurian coastline, and soak up the relaxed atmosphere of this historic fishing community. For those who wish, there is also an optional walk led by your tour leader that climbs above the village to reach spectacular panoramic viewpoints. Along the way, you’ll pass through the terraced vineyards that define the Cinque Terre landscape while enjoying breathtaking views of the coastline and the sparkling sea below.
Stop 4
1hYour journey continues to Corniglia, the only village of the Cinque Terre perched high above the sea. Unlike the other towns, Corniglia sits on a rocky promontory surrounded by terraced vineyards, offering breathtaking views over the coastline and the sparkling Ligurian Sea. With its quiet charm, colorful houses, and narrow lanes, it feels like a peaceful retreat away from the crowds. Take time to wander through the small streets, admire the scenic viewpoints, and experience the authentic atmosphere of this unique village. You will also have free time to enjoy lunch, giving you the opportunity to relax at a local restaurant or café and savor the flavors of Ligurian cuisine before continuing your adventure.
Stop 5
1hAfter lunch comes the real adventure: a hike of approximately two miles along the medieval mule trails that skirt the cliffs and connect the hilltop towns of the Cinque Terre (if you choose the tour option without hiking, the train will be used instead to move between villages). You will leave the trail when you reach the village of Vernazza, one of the prettiest and most characteristic areas you will see on the Cinque Terre tour. Here you will have some free time to sit in one of the cheerful bars and cafés or even have a cooling swim in the sea – it’s the perfect time to get refreshed and prepare for the next part of the tour.
Stop 6
1hAfter departing Vernazza, the group will take a short train ride to Monterosso, a village renowned for its beautiful beach and artisan shops. Here you will have the option to relax on the golden sands, browse the shops for souvenirs or even sample some local wine.
Stop 7
2hDepending on the weather conditions the next part of the experience is an optional boat ride along the coast to Riomaggiore (subject to weather and same-day confirmation + payment), that can be reached otherwise by train. Riomaggiore is the southernmost town of the Cinque Terre and one of its most picturesque. Colorful houses cascade down the steep hillside toward the small harbor, creating the iconic scene that has made this village famous around the world.
Stop 8
1hFor guests who have chosen the Pisa option, the journey concludes with a visit to this historic Tuscan city, famous around the world for its remarkable architectural treasures. Upon arrival, you will head to the spectacular Piazza dei Miracoli, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to some of Italy’s most celebrated monuments. Here you’ll have time to admire the iconic Leaning Tower of Pisa, the magnificent Cathedral, and the impressive Baptistery, all set within the beautiful green lawns of the square. Take the opportunity to capture memorable photos of the famous tower and soak in the unique atmosphere of this historic city. This visit to Pisa marks the final stop of the tour for those who have selected the Pisa option, offering a perfect ending to a day filled with unforgettable sights and experiences.
