   Porta Marzia is an ancient Etruscan gate dating back to the 3rd century BC, once the main southern entrance to the city, now incorporated into the walls of the Rocca Paolina as a remarkable example of preserved classical architecture.

   The upper marble basin has twelve sides divided into twenty-four smooth panels of pink Assisi stone. Each one is separated by an equal number of white Carrara marble statuettes set on ledges between the panels.
