Rome: Colosseum Arena Premium Tour with Exclusive Underground & Arena Access

We chose this ticket specifically to get underground to areas where the animals and gladiators stayed, and the tickets were expensive. The guided tour was also supposed to last 2 hours. First the time was moved 1 hour, which was fine. But the guide finished after 1.5 hours, and then we haven't been underground. We didn't get any information that the tickets had changed from being a tour for 10 people in the colosseum for 2 hours and access underground with a guide, we got instead: guided tour of the colosseum for 1.5 hours, and entrance to the Roman Forum and Palatine without a guide. The guide we did get was very good.

Do not book with this company. This was a complete bait and switch. I booked the underground over a month in advance, days before the tour they informed me it would no longer include the underground. I understand tickets are hard to get, but they shouldn’t have sold this as a guarantee. Then days before the tour they changed the entry time, which completely messed up our itinerary for the day and caused us to be out in the heat instead of the cool morning we had booked. Also booked a “small group” of 9 people or less, the group they put us in had 15. Our guide lined us up in one spot to give a history lesson instead of taking us around to actually see the Colosseum. I strongly urge you not to book with this company. After canceling the underground, they offered a 50% refund of original ticket price. It has been several days since the tour and still not refund to be seen.

Firstly our guide Sara was fantastic! So friendly and knowledgeable. However, we paid €350 for the underground tour as we had done the arena floor on a previous visit. When we arrived at our meeting point, there was some confusion and we were told that our tour had been changed to 10 a.m. and the underground tour was not possible as work was being done and we were told we would receive a partial refund. On the tour however, we saw tourists exploring the underground. Very disappointed!

A great tour, brilliant tour guide. We had trouble finding our initial meet up guide at the beginning. Keep your phone handy as they call you if need be. That person walks you to the Colosseum then leaves you to find your tour guide. Go through security scanner and make your way to the meeting point sign where you’ll see lots of tour signs

We’ve taken about four tours since our time here in Italy, and this one was the most chaotic I would say getting started. The initial start was with a company called Tour the Best; we gathered and then our guide started with the history of the outside of the Colosseum, which would have been nice but we could barely understand with her thick accent and crackling headset. One we headed to enter is when mass confusion started. Our guide wasn’t clear on what line we were supposed to enter, and we were turned away at our first entry point only to be led back around the other side of the Colosseum and dropped off essentially to which we were told we would have a separate guide inside. We went to the second entrance and we were told we were at the wrong entrance again so the tour group that we were with, six other couples, were left to fend for ourselves outside the Colosseum trying to figure out how to get in.. we found someone working the outside gate who showed us what entry to be at.

Well, when we showed up to the tour, everybody was handed their tickets but me.. And when they did find her tickets, it was for two hours later. So they sent me on my way to do the tour all by myself without a guide. Which kind of defeated the whole purpose of paying for a tour to have a guide. They were very nonchalant about it and acted like oh well, so sorry. I did not like the service or the attitude.
