Catacombs of St. Callixtus Guided Tour: Ancient History & Underground Mysteries

We had booked a guided tour (in German). We started the tour on time and were part of a small group. The tour was very informative and engaging. Photos and videos weren’t allowed, but that didn’t matter—it meant we could give the tour guide our full attention. We really enjoyed it and highly recommend the tour.

The ticket is completely overpriced—it costs more than twice as much as at the ticket window. A fast-track ticket isn't necessary, since there are plenty of tickets available on site. Headout doesn't offer German-language tours, even though they're available on site. The price didn't include anything that Headout actually provided.

I didn't like that it took them so long to respond to our request for the audio guide, and we weren't able to get it.

The tour provides a very interesting insight into the difficult living conditions of the first Christians in Rome and how the dead were buried secretly deep underground. The story of the young Santa Cecilia was especially moving and unforgettable.

Incredible visit to the Caracombs understanding the size and depth of the burial grounds. Tour guide was often times hard to understand. Good tour!
