Langhe: Private Wine Tour & Tasting with Local Sommelier

Just an absolute wonderful time with Riste. First off, Riste is extremely knowledgeable about wine, the region, the history, and even wonderful advice during our stay. We visited two family owned and operated wineries, one in Borolo region and one in Barbaresco region. Both of the yours and tasting were curated by family members of the owners and both different enough to have very little overlap of the processes. Of course the history of each were unique as well as the wine. Between the two wineries, Riste setup a great lunch spot for us to eat at During the ride to the wineries and back, Riste was able to give us plenty of back ground on the regions and Langhe in general. He has a deep background in the industry and even starting his own wine business. At the end, he arranged shipping of our purchased wine. Finally, Riste provided us with several recommendations on gelato, truffles, wine bars and restaurants in Alba. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area.

We had a fantastic experience on our wine tour through the Langhe wine region with guide Riste and would definitely recommend him for others! Riste has an impressive knowledge of the local wines, vineyards, winemaking, and the Langhe region itself. Also, he explains everything in a very engaging and easy-to-understand way. He is also very easy to talk to – we felt comfortable with him from the very beginning, could ask anything we were curious about, and always received detailed and insightful answers. We also really enjoyed the wineries and vineyards he selected for us. The places were very well chosen and gave us the opportunity not only to taste excellent local wines, including Barolo and Barbaresco, but also to better understand the winemaking process, the differences between the various areas, and the traditions that make the Langhe wine region so special. We would highly recommend Riste for everyone!

We strongly recommend the this tour! The day was very well organized, with an excellent schedule, a thoughtful selection of wineries, and a perfectly timed lunch at a great restaurant. Riste is very nice and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed the entire day, including the conversations with him during the drives between the wineries. He was highly knowledgeable about wines, as well as many other related topics. His explanations were clear, engaging, and complemented the tour beautifully. We want to attend his tour next time we have a chance to visit the area!

Riste was an amazing guide. Both knowledgeable and very friendly. The people on the vineyards we visited were also very friendly and provided us with a lot of knowledge and insights. The restaurant Riste showed us was excellent and had an amazing view. Overall we had a very pleasant time and highly recommend that you choose Riste as your guide.

Booking from Australia, we weren’t sure what would be the best way to explore this area. We had read good reviews of Riste and his tour and decided to book. Communication was excellent and answered any questions. The two of us had a great day with Riste and would recommend. The day was easy paced and we were conveniently picked up from Alba. We visited small family wineries who welcomed us and provided with the opportunity to understand the area, appellations and taste their range of wines through to Barolos. Lunch was at a restaurant in Castiglione Falletto that had been one of a selection provided by Riste and then pre booked at our request and at additional cost. The restaurant, food, wine and views were great. After lunch we moved onto a second family winery for further tastings including Barbaresco. Overall we really enjoyed the experience and Riste was a relaxed, personable and knowledgeable host. Highly recommend.

Our winery tour with Riste was beyond our expectations. Not only does he have an extensive knowledge of the wines, but also of the region. Our tour included local insights of Piedmont beyond its fabled wines. Between our winery visits, Riste arranged a lunch at a local restaurant with traditional Langhe cuisine and a breathtaking view. Each winery visit felt personal and was exactly what we were hoping for. Both of our stops were family-owned operations with both tastings hosted by the family. We purchased more wine than we had expected as each stop had such delicious offerings. Riste even helped to ship our wines back home. Riste as our guide truly felt like going on a wine tour with a friend. We cannot recommend his services enough. Also, at the end of the tour, he even provided a bottle of his own wine that he produces, which was delicious.

Our wine guide/sommelier, Riste, provided an all-encompassing day of wine tasting in the Langhe region of Piedmont. Our tour was exceptional and included tasting of a variety of wines at two wineries with lunch in between, which was elegant, delicious, and had a tremendous view of the Barolo area countryside. We tasted numerous Barolo and Barbaresco wines for which the region is known. We learned about the history and terroir of the region. We also tasted sparkling, white (Arneis, Viognier, Chardonnay), and red (Barbera, Nebbiolo d’Alba, Verduno, and Pinot Noir) wines. Quite an education—all delivered in perfect English. We even had an opportunity to meet the owners of the estates. Riste excellently managed all the communication prior to our tour so we didn’t worry about a thing. We had a perfect day that we will remember for a long time!

Had a superb day out with Riste, our extremely knowledgeable, personable guide/sommelier. We visited 2 local family-run estates; our hosts were very welcoming, and eager to show us their products and production methods. We learned a lot, particularly the differences between Barolo, Barbaresco and Nebbiolo - and tasted some truly excellent wines. And, if all reds are not particularly your preference then there are also some interesting and excellent whites to try. The Alta Langa Brut sparkling is very good. Riste also booked us an excellent lunch in Neive- great food and views. Thanks, Riste, for a superb day.

We had a fantastic time. Riste was very knowledgeable, friendly & passionate. He picked us up from our hotel, gave us lots of information on the short drives, including recommendations for Alba. He picked two styles of vineyards, both were very friendly and Riste knew the owners well so we were made to feel very welcome. We tried 14 wines across the day in small tasting sizes showing us the variety of the region. Riste booked us a fantastic spot for lunch with an amazing view. Bottled water was provided, communications were clear. We would recommend this tour and would book again if we returned

Our tour was great from start to finish. Riste is a very pleasant and knowledgeable person. The tour was very well organized and we really appreciated the choices of wineries and the Osteria for lunch. Riste is able to adapt to your level of knowledge, so I would highly recommend the tour for anyone who wants to learn more about wine in the Langhe region.
