In the Middle Ages it was an important strategic center and became the headquarters of the League of Chianti, established by Florence to administer the territory. The historic center preserves walls, stone alleys, and the Palazzo del Podestà, testimonies of its political and military past.

   The well of wonders Archaeological excavations in Cetamura del Chianti have led to significant discoveries of artifacts inside a well dating back to a period from the 3rd century BCC. in the first century D.C., including ceramic fragments, animal bones, barley, olives, walnuts, and bronze vessels. Fundamental to the history of Chianti viticulture was the discovery of about five hundred grape seeds from the Etrusco-Roman era that are still viable. If the DNA could be obtained, currently under study, which carries important information about the native grape varieties of the lands of Chianti.

Today the estate is famous for the production of Chianti wine and olive oil and represents a place where Tuscan history, nature, and gastronomic tradition meet.
