Mount Etna Food and Wine Tour from Taormina: Volcanic Flavors & Tastings

We spent nearly €335 for two people on this food and wine tour and unfortunately left feeling quite disappointed. For the price, we expected much more from both the food and wine experience. The amount of wine offered was surprisingly limited, with very little information or guidance about the wines we were tasting. It felt like a real missed opportunity, particularly for a tour advertised around food and wine. The food was very average and portions were small – we actually left the tour feeling hungry. It was also a beautiful sunny, blue-sky day, yet apart from around 20 minutes, the entire experience was spent indoors despite both venues having lovely outdoor areas. Transport was absolutely fine and the host was pleasant, but we felt we were left to ourselves for quite a lot of the experience. Overall, it wasn’t terrible, but at nearly €335 for two people, we didn’t feel it offered good value for money.

It was a great tour with a great guide who was fun and clearly knew a lot about Mount Etna, local communities, and daily news. Transportation was comfortable, with an air conditioned Mercedes bus. Our first stop was a modern winery that still incorporates tradition, with great wines and lovely little appetizers. We then went to a local restaurant for lunch, with even more wine, before being dropped off at our hotel. We had a really nice social group, and altogether I highly recommend this experience.

The two wineries were wonderful. Not only was the selection of the wines excellent, but the food and olive oil were phenominal. The tour around the first winery was very informative and interesting. Be prepared for a long car ride to and from and that it can get very warm. Our guide, Gabrielle, was wonderful! Good laughs and full of information xx Great value for money.
