Mount Etna Summit Craters Hiking Tour from the North Slope

We did the sunrise tour and I can’t even explain how magical it was. The light over the mountains? Unreal. Our guide, Giovanni, was super knowledgeable and patient with my dad (who’s not the fastest climber). Big plus: the guide switched between Italian and English so everyone understood. Bring gloves—the rocks are SHARP.

It was my first time hiking a volcano and wow, it’s something else. Weather changed like 3 times during the day (sun, fog, wind), so be ready for anything. Our group was big but the guide kept everyone together and made sure no one felt left out. Views from the top = worth every step. Bit pricey but I get it.

Went with my boyfriend and we both agreed this was the highlight of our trip. The guides are SO passionate about volcanoes, you can tell they love their job. Not too fast, not too slow—just right. Got a little sunburned (oops) but don’t regret a second.

Insanely windy at the top! Our hats almost flew away lol. The guide lent us extra jackets, which was a life saver. Hike itself was moderate, not as hard as I thought. The views of the crater and the steam vents are something I’ll never forget. There were a LOT of people, tho, so sometimes it felt like a parade.

If you want to feel tiny compared to nature, this is THE place. Went with my family, including my 10-year-old, and she managed the hike with only a few "are we there yet" moments. Guides were super encouraging. Just don’t forget water—my husband did and the guide kindly shared his bottle. That’s service!

Honestly, the scenery was cool but the group was too big for my taste. Felt a bit rushed at the stops. The guide knew his stuff but sometimes it was hard to hear with all the wind. Next time I’d try a smaller group.

Booked this for my partner’s birthday and it was a solid pick. The 4x4 bus ride up was a wild start—my partner loved it, I was a little nervous (heights aren’t my fav). If you’re into nature, this is a MUST. Did the tour with two buddies and we still talk about it. The climb was intense but the reward at the summit… can’t describe it. Our guide let us take a break whenever needed—no pressure.
