Visit the Guinigi Tower, one of the most recognizable symbols of the historic center of Lucca. Built in the 14th century by the powerful Guinigi family, the tower is famous for its particular hanging garden and for the holm oaks that grow on its top. Climb the 230 steps to reach the panoramic point, at about 44 meters in height, and admire a spectacular view of the medieval rooftops of Lucca, the churches, the towers, the city walls, and the surrounding Tuscan landscape. On the clearest days, the gaze can stretch towards the hills, Mount Pisano, the Apennines, and the Apuane Alps. The climb also allows you to discover up close the medieval history and architecture of the city, while the garden at the top makes this experience one of the most original panoramic points in Tuscany. Once you reach the top, take your time to observe the panorama and photograph Lucca from above.
