About Mantua
Mantua sits wrapped by three lakes formed from the Mincio river, so seeing the city from the water is not a side trip but one of the best ways to understand its layout. The Mantua Guided Cruise: From the Park to the Harbor via the Water Lift is a standout for its unusual route through the city's water lift, while the Mantua Guided Sightseeing Cruise: Natural Oasis and Water Lift pairs the same engineering curiosity with the wetlands and birdlife of the surrounding nature reserve.

Frequently asked questions
Mantua is almost entirely encircled by the lakes of the Mincio, so a boat tour shows you the Renaissance skyline from a perspective you simply cannot get on foot. The city's water lift, which raises and lowers vessels between different water levels, is a genuine piece of hydraulic engineering that most walking tours never reach.
