Matera Halbtages-Führung ab Bari: Sassi & Landleben

Guide was lovely and knowledgeable. However our tour group was too large… guide also commented on the size. She did her best to manage the group. I would estimate around 40-45. Pugliamare…. The tour provider were excellent in organising the trip. The mini van driver who drove us back to the cruise ship port (Lorenzo… from memory), was superb.

The trip was very good…good driver and great, passionate guide. You should know that the trip was somewhat “compressed” as the driver was also transporting passengers to Alberobello…something I was assured would not be the case. This resulted in a six hour tour becoming a five hour tour. Clearly the tour provider was trying to optimize passenger load. They even called two days before trying to move us to another day.

It was a little tight in the vehicle - but it was overall an enjoyable trip.. the site in Matera was definitely worth visiting and I am happy I could see it. there was no plan for lunch - and I got dropped off at 2 pm after Matera - rest of the group carried on to next destination. The guide and driver were both good - but the coordination of the day could be a bit better. I enjoyed the trip and made a friend.

Excellent tour ! We booked a guided tour of Matera only ( no Alberobello). Smooth pickup , private transfer back to Bari ( the rest of the group went further to Alberobello). Our guide Grace was on point , knowledgeable, and made every effort to avoid huge crowds and take us to the hidden spots in Matera . She also recommended a very nice spot for lunch ( big plus )! Overall a great trip to take , an absolute must !

Stefania was an excellent guide for our group. She provided commentary in English (for the majority of the group) and then in Italian to cater for the remaining members. Having lived in Matera for 23years she was able to show us Matera through the eyes of a local. She readily answered all our questions, and communicated her passion for the city.

Matera is a not to be missed destination in Puglia/Basilicata regions. The tour was well organised and Grace was a great guide. The designated walking route enabled a structured visit to explore the highlights of Matera and Grace provided valuable info regarding the history of the city. As I had already visited Alberobello I had more ample time in Matera, compared to the visitors moving next to Alberobello, to explore the city further on my own until 14:30 before getting on the van to return to Bari.

This was not a guided tour of Matera. It was a bus ride to Matera. That was our experience. The ‘tour’ of Matera was given on the bus ride to Matera where we were shown a map by Grace, asked to take a photo and advised to use that to find our way around. Upon arrival, Grace walked the group to the entrance of the old city, bade us farewell and that was that. Needless to say as first time visitors to Matera it was not easy to find our way around. Eventually we chanced upon a guide at a local tourist office and paid extra for a two hour tour which turned out to be just what we needed. A few days before this activity I received an email informing me that the tour would be continuing onto Alberbello and that we could join for an extra €40.00 each. There was no way I was doing that as the tour I booked was for Matera only. It goes without saying that I would not do this ‘tour’ of Matera again and would not recommend it as it was nothing more than a very expensive bus ride.

Excellent trip, very well organized. The driver pick us up from Bari. He was very professinal giving us many useful informations about the trip ensuring that we have all info about the meeting point, departure hour, everything needed for the trip. Then we met our guid in Matera and we were impressed by his knowledges. Matera is an amazing place, much over our expectations. We knew Matera by internet, but being there, seeing and feeling the place, with a guide showing and explaining, it is an incredible experience. We are very thankful to all staff making this trip possible. Highly recommending. Thanks.
