Rom: Führung durch die Vatikanischen Museen mit offiziellem Guide

I booked a tour specifically to enhance our time at the Vatican. We queued outside for a short amount of time in comparison to non-ticket holders, and the entry process was pretty easy. I assumed that with a tour guide the experience would have been less busy, with time to stop and look around. Unfortunately there were hundreds of other people also on tours at the same time making every room/place incredibly hot and claustrophobic. There was no room to stand with our tour group, we kept getting separated from our guide, and therefore could not hear a word they said. I’m sure they had lots of knowledge and interesting facts but I didn’t hear about 90% of it. The earpiece provided was too big, so wouldn’t stay in, the audio was muffled, and kept cutting out when we were too far away. She was lovely, but it’s a shame the crowds were not better managed with staggered entry times. The Museums were beautiful from what I did see and the Sistine Chapel was a highlight.

Once we figured out where to go, this was an excellent tour. The meeting instructions could be clearer, as the meeting point is inside the Vatican Museums and we initially waited in an unnecessary line. Once we showed an attendant our tickets, we were directed straight inside. Important tip: Have your tickets printed, downloaded, or screenshotted before arriving. My phone unexpectedly lost connectivity through my carrier’s international plan right at the entrance, so I couldn’t access our tickets. Fortunately, my wife had a separate international eSIM through Holafly and was able to pull them up. Having them saved beforehand would have avoided the problem entirely. Once inside, our guide was excellent, knowledgeable, and engaging. The Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel were amazing, and having an official Vatican guide added so much to the experience. We learned a great deal and would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Rome.

The museums themselves were amazing and well worth visiting. Our guide was nice and very knowledgeable and clearly herself very interested in art history and had a lot of things to share with us. She was Polish, and although spoke English well, wasn’t completely engaging. as one of the other comments said, it was quite long and while I enjoyed it, my teenagers could have done with it being about half as long. Two hours dragged a bit in the heat and they lost interest towards the end. I envisaged that the museums would be like say the British museums where it was hard to know where to go but it was literally one route which we could easily have done ourselves. We wouldn’t have known all the details but maybe just soaking up the atmosphere would have been enough for the kids.

Hicimos cola como todos. Y lo peor la guía, llamada Daniela. No transmitió ningún interés.

I had booked both the papal visit and the Vatican museum through get your guide at 1030. . The info for the pope visit was that it ends at 10. This is not true. It ended at 1045, thus we were too late. I had contacted get your guide realizing the time issue and was told it was our problem not theirs that the time didn’t work. I unfortunately assumed that booking 2 activities on website would also mean they would realize you had 2 overlapping activities. Alas assuming me lost me $200 with no other availability per get your guide. I am still awaiting a final response which can take 5 business days. Next time I will book all activities through local companies and not use get your guide.

The tour was disorganized from the start. There were so many people waiting in section E and not everyone received a headset. Was there supposed to be more than one tour guide? Should we have waited longer? There was lack of communication during the headset handout and we noticed others in our group were also confused and ended up with no headset. We therefore couldn’t hear our guide and decided to just tour the Vatican by ourselves after about 10 minutes with the group.
