We booked a night trip to Stromboli. We set off on time, but the boat was incredibly noisy, making it impossible to hear the commentary. Most information was also only provided in Italian. Before docking in Panarea, we waited outside the harbor on a boat over 30 minutes, leaving practically no time to explore the town or take a taxi to one of the beaches for a swim. Stromboli was the highlight—the swimming was lovely and we really enjoyed it. The sunset at sea was also beautiful. Unfortunately, the departure was very early, so the eruption viewing lasted only about 20 minutes, from a long distance and before it was properly dark. Overall, the trip was fine and we did see some eruptions, but for the price it felt more like an expensive ferry ride than a proper Stromboli night tour. Next time, I would travel independently by ferry and book a night eruption tour directly on Stromboli. Local companies use smaller boats, get closer, depart later! and allow more time to watch the eruption.
