Roma: Tour Esclusivo dell'Arena o Sotterranei del Colosseo e Foro Romano

We met our guide, Maya, promptly at the arranged time. We were glad we had decided to have a guided tour instead of going it alone, as we would have missed the context of the Colosseum in Rome’s long saga. Maya was a veritable walking history tome with a sense of humour tinged by social justice. She expertly steered our group of six through the levels of the colosseum, fleshing out the immense ruins with no fewer than 3 picture books that juxtaposed the past with the ruins that remained. Her knowledge of Rome could narrate a much longer tour (weeks!), and we much appreciate our experience.

Maya was an excellent tour guide and I loved being part of a small group and not a huge group. We got to stop and spend time where we wanted to and Maya was very thorough. It was also a very hot and sunny day and she made sure that we stopped in shady areas and refilled our water bottles. The meeting point was easy to find and not full of other groups which was nice!

Our tour guide, Rita, was outstanding. She gave us a lot of information which really brought the history to life. She made sure to keep us in the shade as much as possible and let us have a refill water bottles. The only issue was that our originally booked Underground tour was cancelled. We were given almost four weeks notice and a 50% refund for our inconvenience. We almost cancelled, but decided not to and I am so glad that we didn't. I feel like it was really important to have the guided tour of the Roman Forum and we were still able to look down on the Underground. The tour group was small and Rita did a great job answering all of our questions. We booked tickets to walk out onto the Arena floor later that day directly through the Colosseum and she told us exactly where we needed to go for that. Without her help, I think it would have been difficult to find. We would definitely recommend this tour.

This was an amazing tour! Our first guide has to leave unexpectedly due to a family emergency and our guide Daniella stepped in without missing a step. She wqs so informative and she took us to so many secret backstage locations that most people don’t get to see. I highly recommend this tour. Don’t wait, book it now! The underground tour with the gladiator entrance was amazing. I Hope everything is ok with the first tour guide. She was also amazing.

My review is that we had the underground tour booked for 3:45. Always have to be there 15 min early. Guide phoned and said we wouldn’t be able to get there on time (I told him we definitely wouldn’t make it!) he said not to come and sent me entry tickets thru what’s app. To say I am livid would be an understatement as I couldn’t book another viewing. So would I recommend? Probably not
