Messina: Savoca & Taormina Private Tour with Certified Local Guide

Katia was a fantastic guide. She was very knowledgeable and clearly passionate about the culture and history of Sicily. My partner adores The Godfather and this tour was a fantastic way to learn more about the way it was filmed and the location, but we also had a glimpse of the life of the community and we were able to meet several artists. Katia gave us very good advice on where to get the best cannoli (and food in general) in Taormina and she kept us entertained all day with jokes and anecdotes. Giovanni was also the best driver to have on this tour. If I could, I would give more than 5 stars, we had such an amazing time and we cannot wait to come back to Sicily thank to them!!

We had an amazing day with our guide Katia and driver Pepe. She was very knowledgeable and it was evident she was passionate about her job. She knew everyone in Savoca and introduced us to local artists because we were interested in unique gifts. She had us try locally made cookie treats and freshly made breads which were delicious. Katia made sure to accommodate everyone and made arrangements for those with mobility issues to get up the hill to the church in a golf cart instead of walking. Pepe did a great job driving us through traffic and getting us to each place and back to our ship on time. This was one of the best tours we’ve been on because of Katia and Pepe!

Our tour guide and our driver are very professional. The tour guide can answer all the questions from the customers. She is willing to go extra miles to help all of us. She is very patient to help all the customers. The car is very clean. The driver drove very carefully and very professional. The experience is way exceeds our expectation. Thank you very much. We will definitely look for the same tour guide and the same driver again next year. Please give our tour guide and our driver a big promotion and a huge raise for their annual review. Thank you.

My husband and I spent a lovely day with Katia and Lorenzo. He did a great job of driving the narrow, winding, steep roads to Savoca! Katia was an amazing guide - so knowledgeable about the history of the area, but, more than that, she was caring and made us truly feel like we were her personal guests! She went above and beyond to arrange for me to purchase Sicilian wedding cookies for my granddaughter’s wedding after I return home. It was much appreciated! I would recommend this tour to anyone coming to Messina.

We enjoyed savoca so much. We went for the village and not at all for the godfather, having never seen the movie. Perhaps more and more visitors are coming for the town and not the movie and could reduce the emphasis on the movie and put more attention to the town and the people and their way of life. This way we could spend more time at the pottery location and the wine bar and shops.

Beautiful area. Katia was a great local guide who was very passionate in her description of Sicily. She was friendly and knew many of the local folks we passed. We went to some of the Godfather sites and walked thru two quaint towns, Savoca, and Taormina before returning to Messina. The only negative we experienced was the bus was HOT and seats cramped. With the winding roads, this was most uncomfortable.
