Genoa: Local Market & Private Lunch/Dinner with Home Cook Experience

Our hosts were absolutely amazing. Their warmth and grace made us feel as though we were family. I truly enjoyed the food but the people made the experience. We started with a tour of a local market unlike any I have ever seen. The number and variety of specialties was nearly incomprehensible. Our market guide (Lorella) spoke very good English and helped with understanding the processes used to grow, cure and prepare the raw foods for market. Shared stories between the chef's fiance Roberto and I over the food we had prepared about his family and their military history truly created an exceptional experience. Tiziana was a master chef showing techniques and explaining why differing ingredients bolstered or detracted from the flavor profiles of our experience. Our knowledge from this experience was a huge contributor to many other revelations and discoveries in our travels. I highly recommend!!!

The tour of the market was interesting although somehow I was under the impression we would buy products to cook with, which wasn’t the case. The hosts were funny and lovely although their English wasn’t very good we made it work and it was a fun experience. They were however very set on filming everything and instantly uploading it to Instagram, which was slightly irritating and took away from the “in the moment” experience. However they are fun and welcoming and it was overall a great experience.
